Amelia Island Light
Built in 1839, the 58-foot high brick Amelia Island Lighthouse stands 105 feet above sea level on the Florida side of the St. Mary's River that separates Georgia and Florida.

From illegal rum smugglers, pirates, and slave traders, to legal fishing, shrimping, phosphate, lumber, and military ships, for over 150 years, this lighthouse has been a very important navigational marker for river traffic.

Operated by the U.S. Coast Guard, it is not open to the public, although you can drive near the property. Nearby Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island are both lovely places to visit and shop.
